~ The problem was that enslaved Africans and African Americans were "freed," but not compensated. Our ancestors were expected, largely, to fend for themselves despite the massive exploitation they experienced for centuries. America refused to give them recompense for what it had stolen. But that's the American way, isn't it--to ask those with the LEAST to pay the MOST, even if the price is their lives?
